Three-section airlock

The main function of the three-section airlock is to release carbon dioxide from the fermentation vessel while limiting oxygen access to it. The airlock is sealed onto the fermentation vessel using a rubber gasket and filled with water up to the indicated level. The bubbling makes it easy to monitor the fermentation process of the wort.
