Valinch, a barrel thief or wine thief. The oldest tool of a distiller working with barrels. It allows you to effortlessly extract a sample from the very heart of the barrel, to assess its readiness. How it works: the valinch is inserted into the barrel, the upper opening is sealed with your thumb, creating a vacuum inside the device that prevents the liquid from spilling out. The valinch is then removed from the barrel and lowered cap-end into a glass. Remove your thumb from the upper opening and voilà, your drink sample is in the glass. Compatible with most barrels from 5 to 30 liters.
