A valinch, also known as a wine thief. The oldest tool of a distiller working with barrels. It allows you to effortlessly extract a sample from the very heart of the barrel to assess the readiness of your spirit. How it works: insert the valinch into the barrel, cover the upper opening with your thumb to create a vacuum inside the device, preventing the liquid from spilling out. Then remove the valinch from the barrel and lower the bottom end into a glass. Lift your finger from the upper opening and voilà, your drink sample is in the glass. Compatible with most barrels from 40 to 60 liters.
