Another benefit of this aging process is the purification of the distillate from harmful compounds and the softening of its taste. For those who do not wish to spend large amounts of money on purchasing, maintaining, and replacing barrels, an alternative has been developed – wood chips. GUSTO oak chips for infusing have come to us straight from Scotland. They are made from the staves of whisky barrels in which well-known brands such as Springbank, Glen Scotia, and Glengyle were aged for 12 years. You will obtain a spiced drink with an astringent aroma of vanilla and nutmeg. Recommendations: Oak absorbs part of the alcohol, so it is recommended to use a distillate of at least 50-55% ABV to ensure the final infusion does not fall below 40% ABV.
